About Shelley
Shelley Jameson’s distinguished international career as a managed opera singer, earned acclaim for her expressive artistry and exceptional vocal technique. The Los Angeles Times praised her “soaring pianissimos,” noting her “beautifully conveying the role of Musetta as an actress.” She performed leading roles with major opera companies throughout the United States and abroad, establishing herself as a compelling and versatile artist on the international operatic stage.
A recognized expert in voice pedagogy, Shelley specializes in bel canto vocal technique backed by modern voice science. Shelley’s teaching combines the timeless principles of Italian bel canto with a thorough understanding of vocal anatomy, breath support and management, vocal health, and vocal production.
Shelley credits two exceptional mentors for shaping her approach to teaching. She completed her postgraduate vocal studies in New York City with renowned pedagogue Dodi Protero, whose own training traces directly to legendary Italian coloratura soprano Toti Dal Monte. While earning her Master of Music in Vocal Performance, Shelley studied with Dr. Tom Cleveland, former Director of Vocology at the Vanderbilt Voice Center and Professor of Otolaryngology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Under Dr. Cleveland's guidance, she developed extensive expertise in vocal anatomy, vocal hygiene, voice science, and vocal rehabilitation.
Beyond vocal technique, Shelley believes that great singers must also be compelling storytellers. Her teaching emphasizes truthful communication of text through acting, incorporating the Sense Memory technique introduced to her by internationally acclaimed opera director Frank Corsaro during one of her prestigious young artist programs. She continues to find this approach one of the most effective methods for developing authentic, emotionally connected performances in both professional and emerging singers.
Shelley's students benefit from a rare combination of elite professional performance experience, extensive teaching experience, comprehensive scientific understanding of the voice, and a deep commitment to developing complete singing artists. Her students have gone on to achieve recognition in both classical and contemporary music, including rising pop artist Celine Wanyi, who was selected as a 2026 Spotify RADAR Singapore & Malaysia artist. Shelley is committed to helping each singer build a healthy, expressive, and sustainable voice while developing the artistry needed for lasting success.
